Wasserkunst-Insel Kaltehofe a 19ct water purification plant located in the river Elbe was supplying Hamburg with drinking water purifying the water of the river. This early piece of public infrastructure represents a machine utilizing natural processes of sand filtration and appears as a landscape.

Kaltehofe appears to be remote today, but will potentially serve as a new typology of a park for the Hafen-City developing downriver.
